12V Battery Capacity Tester for optimal page layout - print in landscape back

The combined Battery Capacity Tester/Charger has been designed to test a  (6 cell) 12 volt battery's capacity.

 It can be used for:

  • Customer's warranty claims
  • Evaluate different manufacturer's batteries

Easy to use - Once connected just push the start button.

The discharge side of the unit, uses a Hybrid load design, which combines the  ruggedness of a resistive load with the precision of a constant current  semiconductor load.

The charger has been designed to automatically recharge the battery after  the discharge has finished. The charger uses a three stage charging  sequence.

  • Constant current
  • Constant voltage
  • Float/Standby

The large numerical LCD display reads the actual runtime in minutes. Just  compare the discharge time of the unit with the battery manufacturer's  discharge time, at the same discharge current. At the end of the discharge  cycle, which has been preset to the manufacturer specification, the  discharger will stop, and the charger will automatically recharge the battery.

THE BATTERY CHARGER CAN BE USED WITHOUT USING THE DISCHARGER

 The Discharger

12 volt 6 cell batteries only!

 Feature:

  • Short circuit protection
  • Reverse polarity protection
  • Large numeric LCD display
  • Resistive load with a constant current semiconductor load

 Instructions for use:

  1. Connect the RED (+) output lead to the battery positive (+) terminal.
  2. Connect the BLACK (-) output lead to the battery negative (-) terminal.
  3. The RED Runtimer LED will flash twice and remain on.
  4. The Discharge display should read 0.00.
  5. When the GREEN (Float/Standby) LED on the charger side of the unit is 'ON' push the start button.
  6. The GREEN 'LOAD ON' LED will illuminate.

The Charge side of the unit is now automatically disconnected and the unit  will start to discharge the battery.

The time taken to discharge the battery will remain on display as long as the  battery is connected to the unit, this should be recorded as once  disconnected the reading will be LOST.

On completion of the battery's discharge, the charger will automatically  recharge the battery to prevent the battery being left in a discharged state.

 The Battery Charger

The microprocessor controlled battery charger is fully automatic. It is  designed to provide fast charging and ensure peak performance from your  battery.

 Feature:

  • Short circuit protection
  • Reverse polarity protection
  • Fast constant current bulk charge
  • 3-Stage charging CI-CV-FLOAT
  • Constant voltage Float/Standby
  • Independent overrun (fault) timer
  • Digital electronics for stability & reliability
  • Proportional timing

 Instructions for use:

  1. Connect the RED (+) output lead to the battery positive (+) terminal.
  2. Connect the BLACK (-) output lead to the battery negative (-) terminal.
  3. Connect the mains power cord (plug) to a mains power outlet.
  4. Switch 'ON'.
  5. The LED's on the charger will light in the following sequence:
    1. GREEN (Float/Standby) 'ON' then 'OFF'
    2. YELLOW (Charging) 'ON' then 'OFF'
    3. RED 'ON' then 'OFF'
    4. RED will then come back on then stay 'ON'
  6. The YELLOW (Charging) LED will only come on and stay on, when a battery is connected, and needs charging.
  7. The YELLOW (Charging) LED 'Flashing' this indicates the battery voltage has reached the upper voltage limit.
  8. The GREEN (Float/Standby) LED illuminates at the end of the proportional timing stage, once this has been achieved the battery voltage will drop to the Float/Standby setting.
  9. If the GREEN LED is flashing t the end of a charge sequence, this indicates a FAULT condition in either the battery or the charger.
